The NFVf bursary is open

NFVF is the National Film and Video Foundation basically the people who fund South African film. And every year they pay for students who want to actually make films, not just watch them.

This bursary is for you if you want to study film or TV in South Africa next year. Think directing, producing, writing scripts, camera work, editing, sound, animation, VFX. Not acting. They always say it they don't fund acting or music. They fund the people behind the camera.

If you're South African, you have matric, and you got accepted or you're already studying at places like AFDA, TUT, Wits, UJ, Big Fish you can apply.

You also need to show you actually need the money. If your household is earning under R600k a year, you're in that bracket. And your marks don't have to be perfect, but if you're already studying you need around 60% average.

What will they pay? Everything that matters. They cover your full tuition. And if it's your first year, they can throw in up to R50k extra for your accommodation, food, books, even your laptop for editing. That is huge.

It closes on 31 August 2027 5pm

That's this Sunday. Not next month. This Sunday. After 5pm the system locks and that's it. No extensions, no "please check my email."

You apply online only. Don't go to their offices, don't email them. Go to: nfvf.praxisgms.co.za create a profile and upload everything there.

What you need ready before you start:

Your ID, matric certificate, latest results, letter that shows the school accepted you, how much your fees are, your parents' payslips or affidavit if they don't work, and that motivational letter.
